Australian farmers have started slaughtering their cows. The stables and the land is apparently getting overcrowded after last month’s export ban to Indonesia. TV images showed how butchers slaughter cows unstunned in horrible ways in Indonesia.
Nico Botha, of Moola Bulla station in Western Australia, told state broadcaster ABC that he would begin killing the animals as soon as wednesday. “We’d rather shoot them now than go overgrazing, dying in the paddocks, struggling to get the paddocks better again” he said.
Mental Health Concerns
In a rather remarkable development, fears over the mental health of farmers seems to be increasing and mental illness is becoming a major concern. It would be interesting to learn whether these farmers will actually stun the animals before shooting them.
